Jim Clark Motorsport Museum, Duns
Christie Gillespie assisted Scottish Borders Council with the delivery of a redeveloped and expanded museum reflecting the life and career of former world champion racing driver Jim Clark who lived in the Scottish Borders. The project consisted of the remodelling of the existing building and extensions to provide exhibition space in an attractive and user friendly environment. Revit was used to provide 3D modelling of the structure and architecture. The extensions were constructed from steel and timber frames. The new museum allowed the display of the huge range of trophies and memorabilia that it has access to.
The new facility redeveloped the existing building and created an extension linking it to a disused garage to create a significantly larger museum in the heart of Duns. This allowed the permanent collection to be displayed alongside racing cars and also have space for visiting exhibitions.
This project opened to the public by Jackie Stewart in 2020 and since completion visitor numbers have soared and exceeded expectations.
