Industrial building

We provided civil and structural design services for this building commissioned by Montrose Port Authority. The building houses emergency sub-sea containment equipment to be deployed to prevent disasters such as the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in 2010.

We worked under Brookfield Fabrications in Montrose who delivered the project successfully on time for its opening in September 2019.

The building has a 14m clear height to the eaves to allow the 50 tonne crane to assemble the high tech equipment for testing. Due to the scale and height of the building, 1300mm lattice columns were required on deep steel tube piled foundations taken to the rock through the soft alluvial soils of the Montrose Basin to support the significant loadings on the building.
